Based on an in-depth sociolinguistic case study of language planning in Pakistan, this book examines the extent of the linguistic support in Urdu, English or the mother tongue available to students to cope with their courses in higher education. Keeping in view the paucity of research in the area of sociolinguistics, bililngual education, and language planning in the Pakistani and the South. In this capacity, I participated in the planning and development of entrance examinations for Ethiopian higher education and presented research papers in national conferences. This gave me an opportunity to develop some insights about the challenges of the Ethiopian higher education system.
